Commercial Division Judicial Officers Take Students Through Court Processes
The Commercial Division today hosted students from different institutions of learning who wanted to get a first-hand experience of how the Court operates.
The students who were led by Mr Nasser Kkonde, an advocate, were taken through the functions of the Judiciary, court decorum and hierarchy, the process of becoming a lawyer by Justice Stephen Mubiru, the head of the Commercial Division.
The Court's Deputy Registrar, HW Jessica Chemeri, took them through Various Court Levels and their Jurisdictions.
She also took them through the commercial justice system and in particular the handling and management of commercial cases as well as the roles of the different Judicial Officers.
She highlighted to them the commercial Division history and the nature of cases which are handled at the Division.
HW Nanteza Zulaika, the Deputy Registrar Alternative Dispute Resolution took them through Mediation and Small Claims Procedure.
Ms Halimah Kaggwa, the Senior Communications Officer, explained to them the different categories of cases handled by the courts of judicature. She also encouraged them to join the legal profession which she described as noble.
The students, who are under the tutelage of Rotary Club of Kampala Kibuli also got to experience a live court session presided over by Justice Thomas Ocaya.
Mr Kkonde, on behalf of the students, thanked the Commercial Division leadership for the time and the guidance offered to the students.
The students were also taken on a guided tour to the court facilities including court halls, Library, Registry and archive.
